The Ripples dining table by Toyo Ito, winner of the 2004 Compasso d'Oro, has blossomed into a collection of different furniture types. Amongst them, we may highlight the Ripples table, featuring a transparent glass tabletop that presents its impressive structure, fabricated with a laminated composite of five different solid kinds of wood namely, walnut, mahogany, cherry, oak, and ash. The fiber colors and directions are purposefully defined to produce an elegant polychromatic effect. This unique and poetic woodwork, created within a strict aesthetic framework, is reminiscent of fluid motion, not unlike the ripple effect produced by a stone tossed in the water.
